File Encryption
Folder Lock is fast data encryption and password protection software for Windows. It can simultaneously encrypt, lock and password protect your files, folders, drives, USB drives and even CD/DVD-RW.
This file encryption software creates encrypted storages called 'Lockers'. You can keep as many of your private files & folders in your Locker and password protect it with a single click. You can transfer, secure and backup these Lockers. Lockers are portable, you can keep them in USB Flash Drives, CD/DVD (R-RW), & notebooks or transfer them via email or upload. Lockers are even undeletable on the computer where Folder Lock is installed.
You can treat Lockers just as you would treat them in physical world. Each user can have their own Locker. However, a single user can create multiple Lockers with different passwords as well. With file encryption software, you can choose either to encrypt using 256-bit AES on-the-fly encryption or lock files, folders and drives anywhere on your computer. Each Locker can contain your encrypted files as well as your personal list of locked items.
Furthermore, file encryption software's options like hack attempt monitoring, stealth mode, data shredding, history cleaning and auto protection can enhance data security beyond anything ever achieved. In addition, a locker's delete, move and rename are password protected to prevent data loss.
File encryption software is Windows Vista / 2003 / XP / 2000 compatible and is the most downloaded File Security program in the market today.
How to password protect files and folders.
If you want to protect important files from unwanted access by blocking visibility or access to files, folders and drives, please read following step by step guide.
Locking your folders and files with Folder Lock does not require technical expertise. With just a mouse click here and a mouse click there, you can Lock folders and files in a few seconds.
To lock your folders and files, run Folder Lock and go to the Lock Files feature (see image below). Once there, enter the Master Password or the Locking Password to access the feature. If you are accessing the feature for the very first time, then you will get to see the following screen.
If, however, you have set a different Locking Password for every unique user then you will see the following screen, where you can enter either a Master Password or the Lock Password to access the Locked Files module.
Once you have entered the password to access your Locked files, click 'OK' to continue to the Lock Files list. This list will be empty if you are entering the Lock Files feature for the first time. You can now Lock folders and files by clicking on the 'Add' button on the top menu. This will bring up a pull down menu from where you will need to select the 'Add File(s)' to Lock files and the 'Add Folder(s)' button to Lock folders. (see image below)
As soon as you have added your selected folders and files to the Locking list, the default security setting of Locked and Hidden will both be applied to the items, which will make your Locked items both inaccessible (Locked) as well as hidden. To remove the Hidden option from the security settings for the Locked folders and files, simply go to the 'Settings' panel by clicking on the Settings button placed on top of the main menu. (see image below)
Once you click on the 'Settings' button as shown in the image above, go to the Locking and Encryption tab (see image below).
In the field titled 'Lock Files Will Be:' deselect the Hidden option and then press 'Apply' to confirm the changes made. One you have finished with the changes, click on 'OK' to exit the 'Settings' panel.
Now your Locked folder(s) that have been added to the list will ALL be Locked. With the Locked security setting, the items in the Locked list will not be accessible (i.e. Copying, Moving, and/or Deletion will not be allowed). The Locked security setting will make ALL your Locked folders inaccessible, even when others can view them
Please note that even though you can add folder(s) containing Locker files (.flka, flkb, flk), you CANNOT add Locker files directly to the Locking list. Furthermore, all restricted files and folders, as well as files with similar names on the Lock list CANNOT be added to the Lock list for Lock protection.
